Another Creative Whim

Dannie saw this in a Lowes Creative Ideas magazine, and asked if I could build her one. It's a little portable garden table that holds two wine glasses, and whatever else you might need while enjoying some time out in the yard (maybe even while playing cornhole!!). Once the leg is pushed into the ground, it becomes a pretty secure little table you can easily move from one place to another (and aerate your yard at the same time)!!

One For April

One afternoon on the way to lunch at Max and Erma's, April calmly said that we should come here on a Wednesday. The rest of us were a little confused at where she was going with this until she finished by saying that because kids eat for free on Wednesday's, Rook could get a free meal!! We all died laughing, and poor little Rook was speechless. I snapped this photo so we could all remember the moment!!

Missing Monitor

Today at work, I came back to my desk from playing foosball .. um, I mean back from a meeting ... and something was missing from my desk. I think someone was a little upset we played without him!!!

Cute Comic

My father sent me this comic the other day, and I just laughed. What made me laugh was the fact that I can now actually do that with the Jeep!! Can you picture me walking around with my Jeep doors like the guy in the comic?? Yeah, me neither!!

My Creative Whim

I was on EBay the other day (surprised, huh??) and saw a Thomas the Train display rack. I thought it was a neat idea, and decided to try making one myself. I created one exactly like I saw on EBay, and my mother like it so much, so took it for her house. I then decided to make another one, slightly larger for Abbie and Katie. It was fun to make, and I think it turned out pretty good. I even cut "tracks" in the shelves to keep the trains from falling off. What do you think??

Let the Customizing Begin

Today, Dannie and I installed our first customizations to the new Jeep. We added a Rugged Ridge black steel fuel door cover and a pair of Rugged Ridge steel taillight guards. Oh, and we picked up the soft top this weekend, but you'll have to wait until spring (or early summer) to see what that looks like!!

Another One For You

I saw this at a Cracker Barrel right here in Marietta. Not only are the numbers in the wrong spot, but the math is wrong!! It's not a savings of $30, not even 30%; it's a $50 savings or what would equate to $25% off. Stay in school kids!!

What A Deal!!!

Buy 2, and you save $0.05!!! I guess in today's economy, it's still money saved!!

Another Successful Teddy Bear Parade

We enjoyed another highly successful Christmas Party and Teddy Bear Parade. In all 60 bears were collected!! Yes, that's right 60!! We had 71 people attend the party including kids, so that almost one bear per person!! I want to thank all of you who participated. I can't wait to take them to the fire station this weekend. You have given them the ability to touch so many kid's lives when they need it the most. Enjoy the pictures ... I'll try and post some from the fire station if I remember to take my camera!!

That's How My Girls Roll

Two weekends ago, my family and I (along with two other families) spent the weekend in the mountains of Blue Ridge, GA. At the request of Squeak, we visited Mercier Orchards. That place is awesome!! They had a million different types of apples, cider, baked goods, spices, and tons of other delectable items!! The girls enjoyed their visit there too which involved a ride in the shopping carts. Here's Abbie showing off her new hat, and Katie with a piece of apple pie in her hands. If you ever get to the North Georgia mountains, make sure you stop by.

Cornhole ... the Video Game!!

I had meant to post these a long time ago, but forgot. A bunch of us from work decided to head to Miller Ale House for lunch. After we were finished eating, and just about to walk out the door I noticed Cornhole the Video Game!! The video game was actually called Bags, which is the politically correct name for Cornhole. I didn't get a chance to play, but I did take some pictures. Enjoy!!

Honey Do List

I told you before that after I "installed" crown molding on my parent's kitchen cabinets, I would have to do the same for our own cabinets. Well, we did it this weekend. If a picture is worth a 1,000 words, I'll leave you with two pictures!!

Monkey Squirrels

This weekend, my family and I went down to Spring Hill, Florida to visit some of Dannie's family. They happen to live in a huge retirement community called Timber Pines. Each time we go, we see these unusual creatures called monkey squirrels (well, at least that's what we call them). They are definitely part of the squirrel family, although their color is like nothing I've ever seen before. I thought I would share their pictures with you. Enjoy.

Another Score!!

The train table was probably a little better score, but this was still a nice little find. Since Grant Bob always tells us about his Tiki finds, I thought I might share with you my Little Golden Book finds. I always stop at this little used book store on the way home from the dentist. This past Tuesday, I had an appointment and stopped in. When I walked in, the lady told me she had a box of them behind the counter (meaning they hadn't been picked over yet). I halted in my tracks, and made a bee-line to the counter. There were quite a few older books in there, which is what I prefer to collect. Some of them I already had, and some were in bad condition. After picking them over, I ended up with 8 books I didn't already have. Six of them are pictured below. They were dated between the late 1950's and the 1960's. Three of them were "A" editions. Not bad for $1.00 each!!

My Weekend Task

This weekend's chore was installing crown molding on my parent's kitchen cabinets. Of course, that was in addition to adding another cabinet above their refrigerator (there wasn't one there, although we all thought the builders should have done so). After talking with Jerry (insert URL to Jerry's blog if he ever gets one), and doing some research on the web, I was able to determine the angle of the corner cuts. The only problem is I did such a good job, my wife said I now have to do the cabinets in OUR kitchen!!

SCORE!!!

Found this at a garage sale this weekend (thanks to Christine and her community-wide garage sale). It is in EXCELLENT condition, and Dannie was able to "talk" her down to just $30. Abbie had train pieces on it within minutes of setting it up!!
